Bona Mugabe Files For Divorce, Demands $8 100 per Month

The marriage of former President Mugabe’s daughter, Bona Mugabe and Simba Chikore has collapsed, with Bona filing divorce papers at the High Court on Tuesday.

In the papers filed at the High Court, Mugabe said the parties have lost all love and affection for each other and have been living apart for more than nine months.

She is now demanding a monthly maintenance of US$2,700 per child, as well as full custody for the three children with Chikore granted visits every alternate weekend.

Bona and Simba wedded in March 2014 in Borrowdale at a colourful ceremony that attracted heads of states from other countries, prominent business persons, and government officials.

The invited guests did not only attend but showered the new couple with presents and gifts.

It was President Mugabe and his wife Grace Mugabe who set the tone, giving the new family US$100 000 and 55 head of cattle.

Equatorial Guinea President Mr Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and his wife gave the newly weds US$35 000 while the late Zambian President Mr Michael Sata and his wife Dr Christine Kaseba congratulated the couple with a gift hamper worth about US$4 000.

Businessman Mr Ihmad Ahmed made a gift of US$50 000, while Mr and Mrs Gabriel Mugabe gave the couple with US$25 000, plus 10 head of cattle.

Other prominent gifts came from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, represented by ex-Commissioner-GeneralAugustine Chihuri which gave the couple US$10 000 and ZAOGA (FIF) Qatar which gave the couple US$2 600.

Minister Nicholas Goche gave US$2 000 while Minister Walter Mzembi gifted the couple with a honeymoon holiday to Seychelles.

Since then, the couple disappeared from limelight but  9 years later, the marriage has collapsed.
