Terence Mukupe

Former Deputy Minister of Finance, Terence Mukupe has been slapped with an effective three year jail term after being convicted of fraud charges from a 2017 transaction where he skipped duty through fraudulent means.
The magistrate initially sentenced Mukupe to three and half years in jail, but six months were suspended on condition of good behaviour and that he restitutes US$12 000 for the duty that he prejudiced the nation.
Mukupe and his three accomplices were arrested in 2017 after ZIMRA officers discovered that the quartet had emptied fuel in Zimbabwe from a tanker that entered the country on the pretext that it was transporting diesel to DRC. After emptying the fuel, Mukupe and accomplices filled the tanker with water and proceeded to Chirundu Border post where they were then arrested by ZIMRA officials.
The fraud prejudiced the state of approximately US$55 600.
