Zimbabwe will reverberate with celebration today as the nation marks National Youth Day at the esteemed Mushagashe Youth Vocational Training Centre in Masvingo Province.

Under the theme “Positioning Youth Empowerment and Development towards Achieving Vision 2030,” this day stands as a testament to the vitality and potential of Zimbabwe’s youth, who constitute a significant 64% of the population. It serves as a beacon of inspiration, urging the youth to emulate the courage and determination of the nation’s independence heroes.

Honorable Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on State Occasions and National Monuments, yesterday delivered an update to the Cabinet on the meticulous preparations, assuring that all arrangements are in place for this momentous occasion.

Transportation and logistics have been meticulously organized by the government to facilitate the attendance of youths from every corner of the nation.

National Youth Day, designated a public holiday by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government in 2017, transcends mere celebration. It serves as a platform for introspection, allowing both the youth and the Government to assess the efficacy of implemented empowerment programs and to deliberate on community-based initiatives fostering positive change.

At the heart of this event lies a commitment to instilling in the youth a sense of ownership, accountability, responsibility, and sustainability, aligning with the national ethos of inclusivity as Zimbabwe charts its course towards becoming an Upper Middle Income Economy by the year 2030.

A pivotal component of the festivities is the Economic Dialogue, where a youth representative will articulate the challenges faced by Zimbabwe’s youth. His Excellency Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the President, will grace this dialogue as Guest of Honor, and will take the opportunity to articulatr his vision for the nation and engage directly with the youth.

The Economic Dialogue will feature policymakers from key economic sectors, engaging in meaningful discourse with the youth to unlock their socio-economic potential and explore avenues for advancement.

Central to the event’s objectives is harnessing the youth dividend, recognizing their pivotal role as catalysts for national development.

The occasion will also welcome esteemed foreign delegates from South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, and Tanzania, providing them with a glimpse into Zimbabwe’s vibrant and dynamic youth culture.

Entertainment arrangements have also been set, with many local artistes expected to perform.
