The outgoing Kuwait Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Salem Shibeeh Hamad al Khaledi this Thursday visited President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House in Harare to bid him farewell.
H.E Khaledi will be leaving Zimbabwe this Sunday after concluding his tour of duty.
Speaking to the media after a closed door meeting with the President Mnangangwa, H.E Khaledi told journalists that Kuwait will continue to strengthen it’s relations with Zimbabwe.
“We have a historical relationship with Zimbabwe and we appreciate that relationship. We are going to go ahead with that relationship with Zimbabwe in the future. We are happy with the level of that relationship,” he said.
Asked on the future of the Kuwait-Zimbabwe relations, Ambassador Khaledi said, “Hopefully, our business people will come and invest in Zimbabwe and we are going to push them to invest. Everything is possible because Zimbabwe is a promising country for any economic activity.”
In response to a question on human trafficking syndicates in Kuwait preying from unsuspecting job seekers, especially domestic workers, Ambassador Khaledi denied the existence of human trafficking in Kuwait saying his country does not have domestic workers from Zimbabwe or a visa for domestic work.
Kuwait established its embassy in Harare in 1992 and Zimbabwe’s first embassy in the gulf region was established in Kuwait.
Kuwait is situated in the northern edge of Eastern Arabia at the tip of the Persian Gulf, bordering Iraq to the north and Saudi Arabia to the south. Kuwait also shares maritime borders with Iran.
