“…An Israeli assault on Rafah could result in mass atrocities and a staggering loss of civilian life.”
Ambassador Tamar Almassri
In a startling development, the Israeli military has issued orders for Palestinians to evacuate the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, signaling an imminent offensive. The move comes on the heels of a night of relentless bombardment that claimed the lives of 22 people, including eight children.
Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Harare Dr. Tamer Almassri has sounded the alarm, cautioning that an Israeli assault on Rafah could result in mass atrocities and a staggering loss of civilian life. He has called upon the international community and Israel’s allies to intervene and prevent what he describes as a dangerous escalation.
Dr. Almassri emphasized that the Palestinian people are steadfast in their refusal to abandon their homeland, vowing to resist the Israeli occupation by any means necessary within the bounds of international law. He condemned Israeli policies of genocide and displacement, warning that such actions only serve to exacerbate instability in the region and beyond.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with staggering statistics reflecting the human cost of the conflict. Since October 2023, at least 34,683 Palestinians have lost their lives, and a further 78,018 have been wounded in Israeli attacks on the besieged enclave.
As tensions escalate and the specter of further violence looms large, the eyes of the world are once again fixed on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with hopes for a peaceful resolution growing increasingly elusive.
