Musician Hope Masike Lands Top Post at ZIMURA

The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) has appointed jazz maestro Hope Masike as a Director Events and Planning following the departure of Mr Phillip Chipfumbu.

Renowned for her mbira expertise, Masike is one of the country’s best female musicians who has made significant contributions to the music scene both locally and internationally.

Masike’s music is a hybrid of deep traditional African culture and modern flavour. This blend allows her to maintain the essence of African music while making it relevant for contemporary audiences. She is also the lead vocalist for the transnational band Monoswezi.

Apart from her recording and performing career, Hope Masike is an activist and teacher who teaches African music in Norway. Her exploits at home and abroad is a testimony of her commitment to spreading and preserving African musical traditions.

The Board is headed by seasoned musician and poet, Albert Nyathi who is deputised by Sungura musician, Farai Batani, popularly known as First Farai.

Broadcaster Alexio Gwenzi is the Director of lnformation, Media and Publicity while musician and entreprenuer Mudiwa Hood is Director lnnovation and Strategies. Gospel diva Janet Manyowa is the Board Treasurer.

Deputy Minister of ICT, Postal and Courrier Services, Hounarable Dingumuzi Phuti is the Director responsible for relationship management and Liaison.

Legal affairs of the Association are taken care of by Mr Witness Zhangazha who is the Board legal Advisor.
Mrs Polisile Chimhinhi is the Executive Director.
