Zimbabwean President Extends Condolences on Iranian Leader’s Tragic Passing

Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa expressed deep sorrow following the untimely demise of Iranian President Dr. Ebrahim Seyyed Raisi and other senior officials in a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024.

President Mnangagwa conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Zimbabwe, recalling fond memories of his interaction with President Raisi during his State Visit to Zimbabwe in July 2023, which strengthened bilateral relations.

The tragic loss of President Raisi, amidst efforts to enhance cooperation between Iran and Zimbabwe, is described as a heavy blow to both nations. President Mnangagwa emphasized the shared goal of promoting socio-economic development despite facing sanctions.

Expressing solidarity with Iran, President Mnangagwa extended support and sympathy to the Iranian government and families of the deceased, hoping that Iran will carry President Raisi’s legacy forward for mutual benefit.

The condolence message, issued by President Mnangagwa, reflects on the profound impact of President Raisi’s sudden departure and offers prayers for the souls of the departed to rest in eternal peace.
