LÜNEBURG, GERMANY – Bantu Spaceship/s, a highly acclaimed Afro-futurism band from Zimbabwe, is set to perform at this year’s Fusion Festival, running from June 26th to June 30th, 2024.
The festival, one of Europe’s largest intercultural music and arts festivals, kicked off today at a former military airport in northeastern Germany, marking its 25th anniversary.
Over the four-day event, it anticipates over 70,000 global visitors, featuring a diverse lineup of hundreds of bands and musicians, including Bantu Spaceship/s. Renowned for blending traditional Zimbabwean rhythms with modern electronic elements, the band will take the stage on Saturday, showcasing African culture.
Founded in 1997, the Fusion Festival has become a symbol of cultural exchange and unity, presenting a variety of musical genres, art installations, and performances.
This year’s edition takes place against a backdrop of global tensions and cultural divisions, underscoring the festival’s message of unity and inclusivity.
Germany and Zimbabwe share a vibrant cultural exchange through events like Fusion Festival, promoting mutual understanding and appreciation.
The festival continues until Sunday, featuring performances, workshops, and art exhibitions.
Bantu Spaceship/s is at the forefront of a new generation of artists inspired by the 1980s creative explosion in Zimbabwe. It has toured Europe and other continents where they have good audiences.
