The 12th Annual National Agribusiness Conference (ANAC) is set to take place on August 28, 2024, on the sidelines of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show.
The conference, themed “Cultivating Prosperity: Sowing Solutions for Livestock Sustainability,” aims to enhance sustainability in agriculture value chains and address industry challenges.
Agribusiness has the potential to unlock Zimbabwe’s agricultural potential, making it a key player in regional and global markets.
Vice President Hon (Rtd) General Dr. Constantino Dominic Guvheya Nyikadzino Chiwenga will officiate the event, which brings together academia, policymakers, government, industry, farmers, and private sectors.
Organized by the National Economic Consultative Forum (NECF) and the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS), ANAC seeks to align the agriculture sector with National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and Vision 2030.
Agribusiness plays a vital role in Zimbabwe’s development, contributing significantly to GDP and employment. By fostering innovation and investment, agribusiness can drive economic growth and improve food security.
Zimbabwe was once hailed as the breadbasket of Africa, boasting a thriving agricultural sector that exported surplus produce to neighboring countries.
However, the country has faced challenges over the years which has led to a significant decline in agricultural production.
Despite this, Zimbabwe still has vast agricultural potential, with fertile land, favorable climate, and abundant water resources. The government and stakeholders are currently committed to revitalizing the agricultural sector.
Initiatives like ANAC will help restore Zimbabwe’s status as a breadbasket of Africa, ensuring food security and driving economic growth.
