Ambassador Tamer Almassri

By George Swarei

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Zimbabwe  Dr Tamer Almassri has strongly condemned the assassination of Palestinian freedom fighter and political leader Ismail Haniyeh by Israeli occupation forces, describing it as a war crime that holds Israel responsible for the consequences. This act of aggression has escalated tensions in the region, threatening world peace and security.

The Ambassador’s statement emphasized that this cowardly act by Israel only strengthens the resolve of the Palestinian people to continue their resistance against the occupation. The international community must hold Netanyahu and his accomplices accountable for their war crimes, including the ongoing genocide in Gaza, by bringing them before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The Ambassador reiterated that the Palestinian people will utilize all means guaranteed by international law to defend themselves against this brutal occupation, assuring that they will never surrender. This statement underscores the unwavering determination of the Palestinian people to fight for their rights and freedom in the face of unrelenting Israeli aggression.

The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh is a stark reminder of Israel’s disregard for international law and its intention to prolong the occupation and genocide in Gaza. Netanyahu’s fascist government has consistently demonstrated a lack of commitment to achieving peace, instead opting to shield itself from domestic criminal cases through continued aggression.

The international community must take immediate action to address this crisis, ensuring that those responsible for war crimes are held accountable and that the Palestinian people are afforded the protection and support they deserve. The Ambassador’s statement serves as a call to action, urging the global community to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand an end to Israel’s occupation and genocide.
