Harare based cleric, Bishop Matika popularly known as Bishop Samuronda of St Angels Apostolic Church headquartered in Dzivarasekwa Extension yesterday toured exhibition stands at the ongoing Zimbabwe Agricultural Show where he interacted with exhibitors.
Bishop Matika’s visit to the grant one week event is in line with his belief that church leaders and their congregates should participate in economic issues, alongside their duties to guide their congregates on spiritual matters. His itinerary included a visit to the Ministry of Women Affairs, the ZBC stand, mining sector, the animal section among other exhibitors.
At the Women Affairs and SMEs stand, the yourhful cleric talked about the importance of entrepreneurship and called for more youth to find a place in the many sectors that make up Zimbabwe’s economy.
“You see, here we are seeing results of hard work and good decisions in life. To choose to create these nice items for sale using one’s hands than to opt for unscrupulous ways of raising money, is a great thing. We come here and buy and this is how we can develop as a country, he said.
Popularly known for his gift to track stolen property using Divine guidance, Bishop Matika caused a stir during his tour with many visitors jostling to at least shake hands or get photos with him as he toured the stands.
Bishop Matika also said the exhibitions by most entrepreneurs shows that Zimbabweans have chosen to participate in the economic matrix of the country and this was good for the economic growth of the country.
The 114th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural show is organized around the agriproduce, tobacco, cotton, livestock, and commercial exhibitions sections, with exhibitors coming countries such as
Pakistan, Japan, Netherlands, Brazil, Italy, Malawi, Botswana, South
Africa and Turkey.
The show is running from the 26th to the 31st of August 2024 under the theme,
“Cultivating Prosperity: Growing Business. Innovating for Change.
Nurturing our Future”.
Officially opened by the president of Mozambique, HE Philippe Nyusi on Tuesday, the show is also seeing high profile business conferences that include the Environment, Social and Governance breakfast Conference; the 12th Annual National Agribusiness Conference; the Ambassadors Interface; and the Research for Agricultural Policy Influence Conference.
