Harare, Zimbabwe – September 10, 2024: Dr. Tamer Almassri, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Zimbabwe, has issued a forceful denunciation of a large-scale attack carried out by Israeli forces against displaced people’s tents in Khan Younis at dawn today. The assault resulted in 40 deaths and multiple injuries, which Almassri described as a “new war crime” in the ongoing campaign of genocide and extermination against the Palestinian people.

In a statement released in Harare, Ambassador Almassri accused Israel of committing “a brutal massacre” aimed at rendering the Gaza Strip uninhabitable. He argued that this attack reveals the falsity of the Israeli government and military’s claims about the existence of safe zones in Gaza, labeling them as “lies, deception, and misinformation.”

According to Almassri, the strike involved five missiles that caused significant destruction, with craters dug nine meters deep, complicating rescue operations and medical response efforts. He emphasized that this assault exemplifies the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the increasing difficulty for emergency teams to reach the victims.

Ambassador Almassri also criticized international institutions, including the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, for failing to expedite the issuance of arrest warrants against Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. He argued that this inaction allows the Israeli government to continue its “genocidal crimes” with impunity, ignoring international law and human rights.

The Palestinian government reiterated its call for the global community to hold Israel accountable and to end its occupation. Dr. Almassri urged states to reject the “blatant disregard” for international law, including binding United Nations Security Council resolutions and International Court of Justice orders.

As the situation in Gaza remains critical, there are mounting calls from the international community for immediate action to prevent further loss of life and destruction.
