Harare, October 14, 2024 – Dr. Tamer Almassri, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Zimbabwe, has fiercely denounced what he described as “Israeli massacres” in Gaza, following reports of displaced Palestinians being burned alive in tents at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and Jabalia camp in northern Gaza. The attacks have caused hundreds of casualties, with Palestinians accusing Israel of targeting civilians in an effort to depopulate the area.

Dr. Almassri stated that Israel is committing “the most heinous forms of crimes” against Palestinian civilians, adding that the violence is part of a broader strategy to empty Gaza’s northern regions of its residents. He described the situation as a systematic effort to displace Palestinians, either through direct killing or forced removal.

The Palestinian death toll since the escalation in October 2023 has surged to 42,227, with 98,464 more injured. The majority of the casualties are reported to be women and children, further intensifying calls for international intervention.

According to Almassri, Israel is exploiting global distractions related to its actions in Lebanon to intensify its campaign in Gaza. He accused Israel of aiming to sever northern Gaza from the rest of the Palestinian territory, describing this as part of a larger displacement and annexation strategy.

The Ambassador criticized the international community’s failure to act decisively, claiming it has emboldened Israel to continue its operations. He called for the implementation of United Nations resolutions, particularly the advisory decision from the International Court of Justice, which urges an end to the occupation within 12 months.

As the violence continues, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens, with mounting pressure on world leaders to address the ongoing genocide.
