Zimbabwe and Mozambique Emphasize Shared Values and Solidarity

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has lauded the enduring historical and cultural bonds between Zimbabwe and Mozambique, describing them as a foundation for deepening bilateral cooperation.

Speaking at a state banquet held at State House in Bulawayo ahead of the official opening of the 65th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), President Mnangagwa emphasized the significance of these ties in fostering regional integration and economic collaboration.

The banquet was held in honor of Mozambican President Daniel Chapo, who is set to officially open the ZITF on April 25, 2025.

President Mnangagwa highlighted the shared liberation history and cultural affinities that unite the two nations, stating, “Our shared history and cultural ties are the bedrock upon which we build our present and future cooperation.”

President Mnangagwa also underscored the importance of leveraging the geographical proximity of the two countries to enhance trade and investment.

He called upon the private sectors of both nations to capitalize on existing bilateral agreements and regional frameworks to accelerate economic growth and development.

“The exceptional relations and fraternal bonds between Zimbabwe and Mozambique are cemented by a rich history engraved by the precious blood of many sons and daughters of our two countries,” the President said.

He expressed gratitude for Mozambique’s support during Zimbabwe’s struggle for independence, saying, “We are forever grateful to the Government and people of Mozambique for these and many other acts of unwavering solidarity.”

The President emphasized the importance of shared values and solidarity between the two countries, stating, “As we journey together in our collective efforts to realise the development and prosperity of our peoples, my Government avails itself to further deepen relations with Mozambique, under your leadership.”

He also highlighted the commitment to regional development and cooperation, saying, “Mozambique and indeed SADC, can count on Zimbabwe as a reliable partner, with regards to the ongoing agenda to scale up the realisation of Sustainable Development Goals.”
