Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Zimbabwe emerged victorious at the Africa Public Service Day (APSD) 2025 celebrations, clinching two prestigious awards for its Whole-of-Government exhibition at the three-day event held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Zimbabwe took home the Gold Award in the Best Pavilion category and the Bronze Award in the Best Managed Organisation category, marking a proud moment for the country’s public service institutions on the continental stage.

Held under the theme “Enhancing the Agility and Resilience of Public Institutions to Achieve Equitable Governance and Rapidly Address Historical Service Delivery Gaps,” this year’s APSD exhibition attracted delegations from across Africa, showcasing innovations, reforms, and service delivery models aimed at strengthening governance and public sector effectiveness.

Zimbabwe’s exhibition pavilion stood out as a hub of activity, drawing interest from hundreds of visitors and delegates. The Public Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with other arms of government, curated a compelling showcase of national efforts toward inclusive, efficient, and resilient service delivery.

PSC General Manager, Mrs. Margaret Mzumara, led a guided tour of the pavilion for key dignitaries, including Zimbabwe’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Ambassador Sophia Nyamudeza, senior officials from the Health Service Commission, and a panel of adjudicators.

The awards affirm Zimbabwe’s commitment to public sector transformation and its alignment with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which promotes people-centred development and responsive governance.

The biennial APSD event, coordinated by the African Union Commission, serves as a platform for African countries to share best practices, celebrate service excellence, and recommit to continuous improvement in public administration.
