The Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee has handed down hefty fines to Chicken Inn FC and Dynamos FC following disciplinary hearings over the abandonment of their respective league matches.

In a statement released Wednesday, the PSL confirmed that Chicken Inn FC and their player George Majika were found guilty of abandoning their match against Scottland FC at Rufaro Stadium on 23 May 2025. Chicken Inn have been fined US$5,000, and the match has been awarded to Scottland FC on a 3–0 scoreline. Majika himself was sanctioned for his role in the incident and fined US$1,000.

In a separate ruling, Dynamos FC were also found guilty of causing the abandonment of their match against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium on 22 June 2025. The club was fined US$5,000, with FC Platinum awarded the match on a 3–0 scoreline.

Dynamos’ head coach, Saul Chaminuka, was additionally found responsible for his conduct during the abandoned match. He has been fined US$4,000 and banned from occupying the technical bench for the club’s next two matches.

“The PSL reminds all clubs, players, and officials of their obligation to uphold the league’s rules and regulations,” said Kudzai Bare, the PSL Communications and Media Liaison Officer. “Any actions that disrupt fixtures, undermine the integrity of the competition or bring the game into disrepute will not be tolerated.”

The fresh fines add to the mounting troubles for Dynamos, who are enduring one of their worst seasons in recent memory. The Harare giants, popularly known as Dembare, are fighting relegation after a string of poor results has left them hovering dangerously above the drop zone. There is growing speculation among fans and pundits that the once-mighty club could be relegated for the first time in decades.

Chaminuka, who was recently hired from Kwekwe United — another side battling relegation — has so far failed to turn the club’s fortunes around. Calls for urgent intervention have grown louder, with supporters demanding answers from the club’s leadership as the possibility of relegation looms large.

The PSL has reiterated that it will continue to clamp down on any conduct that threatens the smooth running of the league.
