Dynamos secured their place in the first round of the 2025 Chibuku Super Cup after edging Yadah 4-3 in a penalty shootout at Ngoni Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The match ended goalless after regulation time, with both sides—who have struggled for goals this season—unable to break the deadlock in a tense, evenly contested encounter.
Dynamos converted four of their five penalties to seal progression, while Yadah only managed to score three. Fans favourite Denver Mukamba, who was introduced in the second half had his spot-kick saved by Yadah goalkeeper Godknows Gurure. However, Dynamos goalkeeper Tatenda Makoni also saved Takunda Vareta’s effort, before Vincent Sango sent Yadah’s final attempt over the bar.
Dynamos will now face current premier league leaders and defending champions, Simba Bhora in the next round, set for Sunday at Wadzanayi Stadium.
Dembare are the Chibuku Super Cup defending champions and will be looking to mount a strong title defence against a Simba Bhora side enjoying an impressive league campaign.
