Renowned philanthropist and respected traditional leader Dr. Sekuru Kamwelo Banda has hailed First Lady Dr. Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa for her sustained humanitarian work in Zimbabwe, which continues to provide substantial relief and empowerment to vulnerable families across the country.

On Wednesday, 7 January 2026, Sekuru Banda was among distinguished delegates who attended a high-profile food distribution programme in Nyabira, Mashonaland West, a flagship initiative under the First Lady’s social welfare programmes.

The humanitarian exercise, which reached some of the most vulnerable families in the community, underscored the growing synergy between private philanthropy and the Office of the First Lady in tackling social vulnerability, poverty alleviation, and inclusive development—key pillars of Zimbabwe’s national development agenda.

The programme was officiated by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Mashonaland West, Hon. Marian Chombo, who was representing First Lady Dr. Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa.

The event attracted community leaders, beneficiaries, and development partners, reflecting a shared national commitment to people-centred development and inclusive growth.

In her address, Hon. Chombo commended Dr. Sekuru Banda for his unwavering support of government-led social protection programmes and the First Lady’s expansive humanitarian initiatives, which continue to complement state efforts in uplifting communities.

She emphasized that partnerships of this nature are critical in translating national policies into tangible benefits at grassroots level, particularly as Zimbabwe accelerates its development trajectory under Vision 2030.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Sekuru Kamwelo Banda expressed deep admiration for the First Lady’s hands-on, community-focused approach to social welfare.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Angel of Hope Foundation, which has become a cornerstone of humanitarian intervention in Zimbabwe.

“I am in full support of all the Programmes being carried out by our First Lady Dr Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa. Through her Angel of Hope Foundation we have seen a lot of improvement towards warfare of disadvantaged members of societies across Zimbabwe.

Dr. Banda further emphasized that the First Lady’s humanitarian programmes serve as a critical catalyst in advancing the broader national vision championed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, noting that sustainable national development is unattainable without empowering the most vulnerable members of society.
