The release of the 2025 November Cambridge and ZIMSEC O and A Level examination results has brought a mix of celebration and disappointment for learners and parents across Zimbabwe, once again highlighting education as a critical investment in the country’s future leadership.

Education remains a shared responsibility among students, parents, and schools, with the ultimate goal of producing positive outcomes that shape disciplined, competent, and visionary citizens.

At Ordinary Level which is equivalent to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, learners are introduced to the rigours of structured study, time management, and examination pressure. It is during this formative stage that students begin to discover their strengths, define their ambitions, and cultivate habits that often determine long-term academic success.

A strong O Level performance does not only opens pathways to Advanced Level and tertiary education but also instils confidence, resilience, and intellectual discipline.

Education experts consistently agree that sustained excellence at O Level is a strong predictor of future academic achievement. Students who master fundamentals early are better prepared for the intellectual demands of A Level and beyond. It is therefore no coincidence that many top A Level performers trace their success to solid O Level foundations.

One such outstanding learner is Anotidaishe Seil Taurayi, a student at Kyle College, who has emerged as one of Zimbabwe’s brightest young minds after achieving eight As and two Bs in his 2025 November Cambridge IGCSE examinations.

Anotida’s results were exceptional across sciences, commercial, and humanities subjects. He scored 98% in Chemistry, 97% in Mathematics, 96% in Biology, 96% in Computer Science, and 95% in Physics. He attained 91% in Geography and 85% in Design and Technology.

In commercial subjects, he recorded 96% in Economics and 95% in Accounting. These results earned him a combination of A* and A grades, underscoring his academic brilliance.

His two Bs were in English Literature (71%) and English Language – Oral Endorsement (75%).

Anotida enrolled at Kyle College as a Form One student in 2022, a school that has been his academic home for the past four years.

Asked about the secret behind his achievement, Anotida attributed his success to hard work, consistency, and strong support systems, particularly from his parents and teachers.

“I want to thank my parents for sacrificing to send me to this good school and for providing everything I needed. They even attended our school events, which motivated me greatly,” he said, acknowledging the economic challenges many families face.

Anotida also credited his father for instilling a culture of excellence from an early age.

“My father always pushed me to aim for the best. He would say, ‘You will get As, but we need A*s.’ Even in primary school, if I was not number one, it was not good enough,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to Kyle College’s experienced teaching staff for their dedication and holistic approach to education.

“The teachers helped us understand and comprehend the syllabus. They taught us not only academics, but life as a whole. We were given access to libraries, textbooks, laboratories, and constant guidance throughout the journey,” he said.

Beyond the classroom, Anotida emphasised the importance of balancing academics with co-curricular activities.

He actively participated in and passionately followed sporting codes such as chess, cricket, rugby, and athletics, which he says sharpened his analytical thinking, discipline, and ability to perform under pressure.

“At first, I was complacent about sports. I just wanted to read and pass. But I later discovered the power of sports and fell in love with cricket, rugby, and athletics,” he said.

“Chess taught me patience, focus, and strategic thinking. You need to be calm yet aggressive, quick yet composed. These skills helped me maintain concentration during exams.”

Looking ahead, Anotida views his achievement as a major step towards pursuing Actuarial Science, a demanding career that blends mathematics, statistics, and real-world problem-solving.

While acknowledging the role of talent, he stressed that discipline and hard work are the real drivers of success.

“Talent can only take you so far. Behind good results, especially at O Level, there is serious effort and sacrifice,” he said. He also offered advice to students preparing for examinations, emphasising that execution matters more than planning or dreaming.

“Doing the work is what matters. Always study with your syllabus, consult teachers and peers, revise repeatedly, and practise past exam papers. Start with God and end with God. Let His will be done, because His plans are always good.”

Kyle College, based in Masvingo, has continued to distinguish itself as one of Zimbabwe’s leading private institutions offering the Cambridge syllabus. The school has recorded consistent and impressive O Level results, producing learners who excel at A Level and tertiary institutions.

In 2025, Kyle College was awarded Private College of the Year in Masvingo Province and also scooped the Event of the Year Award following its successful Genesis Festival, which featured the award-winning In Total Band.

The school also boasts a wide range of sporting and cultural programmes, including international educational tours that expose students to global experiences. In 2025 alone, students visited Dubai (UAE), Namibia, and Switzerland, broadening their worldviews.

With its growing reputation for academic excellence, discipline, and holistic student development, Kyle College continues to position itself as a centre of excellence shaping Zimbabwe’s future leaders.
