President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has called for increased production, unity and discipline within the ruling party and across the nation as Zimbabwe accelerates implementation of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) towards Vision 2030.
Addressing the 130th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee in Harare, the President underscored that improving productivity at all levels of society remains central to achieving sustainable economic growth and improving livelihoods.
“We all bear the duty and responsibility to improve our quality of life, household by household and community by community.
“I urge us to keep our membership well mobilised and informed towards increasing production and productivity at community level upwards, in all sectors.”
The President emphasized that the gains recorded under the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) must now be scaled up under NDS2, with a strong focus on economic resilience and inclusive development.
“The determination, hard work and willpower that saw us achieve our targets under NDS1 should be scaled up as we implement NDS2,” he said, adding that unity and focus are indispensable.
“It is critically important that we remain united, unwavering in our focus, bold and decisive towards comprehensive progress in every aspect of our economy.”
President Mnangagwa further highlighted the need for grassroots mobilisation and active citizen participation in national development programmes, noting that development must be people-driven.
“ZANU PF should lead from the front and ensure that our people keep being focused, vigilant and resilient,” he said.
Turning to the broader economic outlook, the President reported positive developments in key sectors, particularly agriculture, where another bumper harvest is anticipated.
“The general outlook of our agriculture sector is positive, with another bumper harvest expected from the summer crop,” he said.
He also noted ongoing collaboration between Government and the private sector to mitigate global economic shocks, including those emanating from geopolitical tensions.
“Government and the private sector are closely collaborating towards innovative solutions to reduce overall economic vulnerability,” President Mnangagwa said, urging citizens to remain resilient in the face of external challenges.
The President reaffirmed Government’s commitment to infrastructure development, citing ongoing rehabilitation of roads and bridges damaged by recent heavy rains, as well as decentralisation of national events to promote inclusive development.
He said this year’s Independence celebrations, to be held in Matabeleland South, reflect the Second Republic’s thrust of leaving no one and no place behind.
“Numerous independence legacy projects are underway… which will have a positive impact on empowerment and skills opportunities, particularly for the youth,” he said.
On the political front, President Mnangagwa commended the party for recent by-election victories, attributing the success to pro-people policies and strong grassroots mobilisation.
“These victories are a result of consistent grassroots engagement, pro-people policies and the dedication of our Party cadres,” he said.
The President also warned against complacency, division and indiscipline within party ranks, stressing the need to safeguard the revolutionary ethos.
“We are vigilant custodians of the revolutionary heritage… we must guard against complacency, division and ideological drift,” he said.
Reaffirming the centrality of unity, peace and development, President Mnangagwa called on party members and citizens alike to remain patriotic and committed to national progress.
“Let us preach unity, peace, hope and development… These values are central and enduring to our revolutionary mass Party,” he said.
The session marks a key platform for reviewing party programmes and aligning them with national priorities as Zimbabwe presses ahead with its Vision 2030 agenda.
