The Zimbabwe National Debate Team has made it to the Finals Series of the 2023 World Schools Debating Championships.
Zimbabwe and South Africa are the only two African countries that qualified to the Elimination round where 24 teams will battle out for the ultimate top price.
The Finals Series is a thrilling stage where the best performing teams from the preliminary rounds go head-to-head in elimination rounds.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Debate Team expressed joy at the achievement and thanked the support rendered by stakeholders.
“We are incredibly proud to announce that Zimbabwe and South Africa are the two African countries that have made it to the top 24.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our friends, Team South Africa, and wish them the best of luck in the upcoming Elimination rounds!

The World Schools Debating Championships is a truly global competition for high school debaters held annually and involves more than 70 national teams.
Teams from all over the world gather in a battle of minds, discussing a variety of different topics from international relations to economics and sport.
Promoting excellence, creativity and, crucially, critical thinking, WSDC is not only a competition but a forum for the best and the brightest of students.
