The Brick by Brick strategy spearheaded by President Emmerson Mnangagwa under the national development agenda Vision 2030 will lead to significant improvements in police housing and office infrastructure, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Hon. Kazembe Kazembe has said.

Speaking at the commissioning of 96 new housing units for police officers, Minister Kazembe, the Minister responsible for police, applauded the government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

“We therefore remain indebted to this progress- and development-oriented support towards the police. We remain confident, Your Excellency, that the brick-by-brick strategy that your Second Republic is implementing will certainly culminate in the construction of more residential quarters for the police service that benchmark well with other police organizations across the region and beyond,” he said.

As Zimbabwe marches toward its Vision 2030 goals, sustained support for the police remains vital to achieving peace, order, and national development.

Minister Kazembe thanked the government for the ongoing construction of police stations and staff quarters across the country, as Zimbabwe continues to improve police working conditions and overall welfare.

“In the same vein, let me take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you, Your Excellency, and your government for facilitating the construction of other police stations and staff quarters which will modernize the Zimbabwe Republic Police.”

Turning to the digital transformation of the police force, Minister Kazembe highlighted progress in the development of several computerized systems meant to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.

“I’m glad to report that we developed a Zimbabwe Republic Police Integrated Information Management System Strategy, which comprises the Crime Management System, the Forensic Laboratory Management System, the Electronic Traffic Management System, among others.

“An Electronic Crime Management System, Your Excellency, was developed by the Array Institute of Technology together with your ZRP IC team, and a prototype is already being tested at Warren Park Police Station,” he said.

He added that implementation of the Electronic Traffic Management System was already underway.

“Work on the Electronic Traffic Management System, Your Excellency, has already commenced, and proof of concept has already been deployed, through which a number of offenders have now been accounted for,” he said.

Minister Kazembe also commended the government’s continued allocation of resources towards law enforcement operations.

“I am deeply grateful that despite numerous competing demands, your government remains committed to availing resources for the flawless execution of our mandate,” he said.

He also acknowledging the sustained government support aimed at improving the living and working standards of police officers.

“The department continues to receive support from your government towards improving the welfare and conditions of service for police officers.”

Adequate resources are central to the effective functioning of any police force. Investment in housing, infrastructure, and digital systems not only improves officer morale and performance but also enhances public safety and trust.
