The Government of Zimbabwe will host the inaugural National Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Awareness Week from 28 July to 1 August 2025 at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability, transparency and evidence-based decision-making in line with Vision 2030.
The event, spearheaded by the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) in partnership with the United Nations Country Team and other stakeholders, seeks to entrench a strong culture of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) across all sectors of government and society.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has repeatedly emphasised the need for timely completion of national projects and delivery of tangible value to citizens, underpinned by robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
The National M&E Awareness Week will bring together policymakers, government officials, development partners and civil society organisations to share knowledge and best practices on how to institutionalise effective M&E systems across ministries, departments and agencies.
The awareness week is expected to feature training workshops, panel discussions, exhibitions and knowledge-sharing sessions focusing on strengthening the culture of evidence-based planning, results measurement and accountability in support of national development goals.
The initiative aligns with the Second Republic’s commitment to drive the country towards an upper middle-income economy by 2030 through efficient implementation of projects and programmes that directly benefit communities.
