The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has announced a temporary partial closure of a section of Glenara Road in Harare from Friday, 10 October to Tuesday, 14 October 2025, to allow for essential road rehabilitation works.
In a public notice, the Ministry said the affected section lies between the DA Service Station and Samora Machel Avenue, and will be partially closed to through traffic during the five-day maintenance exercise.
The temporary closure is part of the Government’s ongoing road infrastructure rehabilitation programme, which seeks to enhance road safety, improve drainage, and ensure smoother travel conditions for all road users.
Motorists have been advised to use Ed Mnangagwa Road as the main diversion route. Those travelling via Ed Mnangagwa Road should detour through Glen Roy, turn onto Sloane Street, continue along Montgomery Road, proceed to Rhodesville Avenue, and finally rejoin Glenara Road through Samora Machel Avenue.
The Ministry also confirmed that local access within the construction zone will remain open, with traffic management personnel deployed on-site to assist residents and businesses affected by the works.
To minimize disruptions and ensure public safety, the Ministry urged motorists to obey traffic signs and instructions from officials, exercise caution, drive at reduced speeds, and allocate additional travel time.
“The Ministry regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the cooperation and patience of the public as we continue to improve the national road network,” the statement read.
The rehabilitation forms part of the Government’s #KilometerByKilometer campaign, which focuses on upgrading and maintaining key national and urban road networks across Zimbabwe.
