President Mnangagwa’s scheduled landing at Victoria Falls Airport was abruptly redirected back to Harare following a chilling bomb threat received via email, allegedly sent by an anonymous individual identifying as “John Doe,” Friday morning.

The alarming incident has sparked nationwide security concerns and raised questions about the efficacy of airport safety protocols.

In a press release issued this Friday morning, the Zimbabwean government announced increased security measures at the country’s airports in response to this “credible bomb threat.”

This precautionary action was prompted by an email received through a tip off from FASTJET AIRLINE, and authorities are swiftly responding to ensure the safety of travelers and airport staff.

The press release, signed by Mr George Charamba from the Department of Presidential Communication, reads:

“Earlier today, the Zimbabwe Airport Authorities received an email via FASTJET AIRLINE from an individual using the pseudonym “John Doe,” who claimed a “credible bomb threat” against Zimbabwean airports.

While the origin and veracity of this communication are currently under investigation, authorities are taking no chances.

In light of this, the country’s security systems have been placed on high alert.

Despite Zimbabwe’s reputation for its peaceful environment, any potential terrorist threat is being treated with the utmost seriousness, and all points of entry are under close scrutiny.

The public is urged to remain calm as investigations proceed, with relevant government agencies diligently working to assess the legitimacy of the threat.

Updates will be shared with the public once the investigations are concluded.

His Excellency, President Dr. ED Mnangagwa, who was set to address a gathering in the renowned resort city of Victoria Falls has since cancelled the trip to facilitate thorough investigations.
