Harare, June 5, 2024 — The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) has announced a significant change in its 2024 royalties distribution process, confirming that payments will now be made in United States dollars (USD). This move comes as part of an extensive upgrade to their operating systems, designed to align with the country’s currency changes.

In an official statement released today, ZIMURA revealed that the distribution of royalties, initially scheduled for earlier in the year, will commence on June 17, 2024.

The transition to USD aims to provide greater stability and reliability for musicians and rights holders amid Zimbabwe’s fluctuating economic conditions.

The association has acknowledged the delay caused by the system upgrade and expressed regret for any inconvenience experienced by its members. To facilitate the upcoming distribution, ZIMURA has advised all members to open Nostro bank accounts, which are necessary for the seamless transfer of USD payments.

According to ZIMURA, this strategic shift to USD payments is expected to enhance the efficiency and transparency of ZIMURA’s royalty distribution, ensuring that members receive their earnings in a stable and widely accepted currency.

The board has reassured members that every effort is being made to complete the process swiftly and effectively. ZIMURA members are encouraged to visit the association’s website or contact their helpline directly.
