The Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) call for nominations to elect ten new members to its Governing Board for the 2026–2029 term, as well as for its upcoming Executive Council election is approa ching the closing day. The nominations will close on the 15th of June 2025.
This call presents a rare opportunity for qualified individuals to take part in steering the strategic direction of one of Africa’s most influential Pan-African organizations in the fight against HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and in broader health system strengthening initiatives.
Leadership with Purpose
As the custodian of the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA), SAA is seeking dynamic, passionate, and experienced leaders from across the continent’s diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Governing Board members will play a vital role in:
Shaping strategic priorities for the organization
Overseeing financial accountability and program delivery
Advocating for research, policies, and innovation in public health
Representing SAA at high-level meetings and continental forums
Nomination Criteria
To be eligible for nomination, candidates must:
Hold at least a Master’s degree in Public Health, Social, or Management Sciences
Have a minimum of five years of experience in HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), or health systems
Have published at least five works in relevant fields
Be a paid SAA member for three consecutive years (2023–2025)
Have participated in at least three ICASA conferences
Nominations must be submitted by 15th June 2025 via this official link, and include:

The candidate’s updated CV
Eligible nominators include Institutional Members, Association Members, Honorary Fellows, and Individual Affiliates.

Nomination Period: April 25 – June 15, 2025
Electronic Voting: July 7 – 18, 2025
Results Announcement: July 28, 2025
Handover Ceremony: To be held in Accra, Ghana, where elected members will then elect their Executive Board
