The Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (CZLWVA) has issued a public warning against a fraudulent group masquerading as officials from the Presidential War Veterans Empowerment Scheme.
In a statement released on Tuesday, CZLWVA revealed that individuals using names such as Cde A. Mutingwende and claiming affiliation with a fictitious organisation called the RedRev Youth Empowerment Fund have been contacting children of registered war veterans, soliciting personal and business information under false pretences.
The suspected fraudsters are using the following mobile numbers:
📞 +263716359673
📞 +263783595564
📞 +263787218239
“These individuals and the organisation they claim to represent are not officially recognised by the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle or any government agency involved in the empowerment of war veterans and their families,” the statement read. “This is a scam. We urge the public not to engage with them.”
CZLWVA has called on anyone approached by the group to immediately report the matter to the police or the nearest government office. The association emphasised the need to protect sensitive information and ensure that legitimate support reaches deserving beneficiaries through proper channels.
The warning comes as Zimbabwe intensifies efforts to uplift the welfare of war veterans and their dependents through structured government schemes.
For further clarification, the CZLWVA encouraged the public to contact:
National Chairperson, Cde Makombe: +263774311681
National Spokesperson, Cde Lenny: +263715493734
Authorities are investigating the matter, and the public is urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
