Award-winning Zimbabwean musician Jah Prayzah has cancelled his highly anticipated U.S. shows originally scheduled for July 4th in Washington D.C. and July 5th in Dallas. The decision follows an unexpected visa processing issue faced by his team.
Taking to social media, Jah Prayzah explained the circumstances behind the cancellations and addressed his fans with transparency.
“We attended our visa appointments earlier this month, but due to a technical issue on our application forms, we couldn’t proceed. That meant restarting the process and trying to get new appointment dates, and unfortunately, none were available in time,” he said.
He said that the issue was procedural and not due to a denial of visas by the U.S. Consulate.
“The U.S. Consulate was supportive and tried to assist in every possible way they could, but some things are simply beyond anyone’s control. I know that some have been trying to push the narrative that Visas were denied, that is not true but, unfortunately, changes nothing at this point,” he added.
The singer expressed gratitude to the U.S.-based organisers and reassured fans that efforts would be made to reschedule the cancelled dates.
“I’m grateful to the organisers on the ground, DJ Nhunzi and Xcelerate, who gave this their all. And to you, my fans, I remain indebted and promise to fulfil this part of the Ndini Mukudzeyi World Tour in the very near future,” he said.
Fans who purchased tickets in advance will receive full refunds, with new dates to be announced soon.
Jah Prayzah’s Ndini Mukudzei World Tour kicked off in May and runs through to November, taking his performances to cities including Harare, Wolverhampton, Düsseldorf, Washington D.C., Dallas, Toronto, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Australia.
