The Government has begun efforts to unpack the Cooperative Societies Development Policy as it moves to strengthen the contribution of cooperatives to economic development and community empowerment.
Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Minister Hon Monica Mutsvangwa is officiating at a workshop in Harare today, bringing together stakeholders to discuss the policy and its implications for cooperative societies across the country.
The workshop, being held in Harare, is expected to provide stakeholders with a clearer understanding of the policy framework, its objectives and measures aimed at supporting the development and sustainability of cooperatives.
Cooperatives play an important role in supporting livelihoods, promoting collective entrepreneurship and creating opportunities for communities to participate in economic activities.
The policy unpacking workshop is therefore expected to facilitate engagement between Government and stakeholders on ways of strengthening cooperative societies and improving their contribution to inclusive economic development.
Further details on the policy and outcomes of the workshop are expected to emerge during the discussions.
