Hon Tawombera

Newly elected Member of Parliament for Glenview South, Honourable Tsitsi Tranquility Tawomhera was this Tuesday officially sworn in, marking her formal assumption of duty in the National Assembly.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) notified Parliament, in accordance with Section 67(iii) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], that Hon. Tawomhera was duly elected to represent Glenview South Constituency. Her election became effective on 12 April 2025.

Hon. Tawomhera fills the seat left vacant following the passing of the late Hon. Grandmore Hakata. Her swearing-in marks the beginning of a new chapter for Glenview South, as she takes on the mantle of representing the constituency in the legislative assembly.

Representing the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF), Hon Tawomhera won the by-election held on 12 April 2025, marking a significant shift as the ruling party reclaimed the seat after years of opposition control.
Former Members of Parliament for Glen View South
1. Paul Madzore (2008–2013)
Representing the Movement for Democratic Change – Tsvangirai (MDC–T), Paul Madzore was elected as the first MP for the newly created Glen View South constituency in 2008.
2. Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java (2018–2019)
Daughter of the late opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java won the seat in the 2018 general elections under the MDC Alliance banner. Her tenure was cut short by her untimely death in June 2019.
3. Vincent Tsvangirai (2019–2023)
Following his sister’s passing, Vincent Tsvangirai secured the seat in a by-election held on 7 September 2019, continuing the family’s political legacy under the MDC Alliance.
4. Grandmore Hakata (2023–January 2025)
A member of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Grandmore Hakata won the seat during the 2023 general elections. Notably, he was elected while in detention, highlighting the political tensions of the time. His tenure ended with his death in January 2025.
