Dravental Golf Day to Mobilise Support for Youth Skills

Dravental Car Hire & Tours is set to turn the fairways into a platform for youth empowerment when it stages its inaugural golf day at Wingate Golf Club in Borrowdale, Harare, on September 3.

The tournament, running under the theme “Powering the Future, Driving Impact”, is expected to bring together golfers, corporates and entrepreneurs, with organisers seeking participation and sponsorship to support youth skills development and digital empowerment initiatives.

A key beneficiary of the initiative will be Momentous Academy, which focuses on vocational training, entrepreneurship and digital skills development, particularly for young women.

Organisers have urged golfers and businesses to secure their places ahead of the August 31 payment deadline.

Individual participation has been pegged at US$50, while a four-ball costs US$200. Companies can also support the tournament through a US$1 000 gin tent sponsorship, US$300 hole sponsorship or US$200 four-ball sponsorship.

Beyond the competition, the event is expected to provide a platform for business networking and partnerships, with Dravental seeking to establish the golf day as an annual fixture on the corporate calendar.

Dravental chief executive officer Dr Maureen Mbondiah said the company wanted the tournament to generate an impact beyond the golf course by bringing businesses together around a common cause.

“We want to encourage a culture where businesses do not only compete, but collaborate,” she said.

Mbondiah said the initiative would create opportunities for established businesses and emerging entrepreneurs to connect while contributing to youth development.

Momentous Academy has trained more than 200 young women and is seeking to expand access to technology and digital education.

The academy is also pursuing the establishment of the Momentous Academy ICT Hub for Tourism, which is expected to provide digital literacy, online learning, job-search and CV support, entrepreneurship and digital marketing training.

The proposed hub is intended to help young people acquire practical digital skills and improve their access to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

For Dravental, the September 3 tournament presents an opportunity to combine corporate networking with support for a practical youth development initiative, with businesses being encouraged to participate either as players, sponsors or partners.
