HARARE — The Zimbabwe Independent Complaints Commission (ZICC) is taking its message of accountability, integrity and public confidence directly to the people at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show 2026 with its stand providing information regarding this newly established organisation.
The Commission’s stand has become a platform for public engagement, with visitors learning about ZICC’s mandate, how it handles complaints and its role in strengthening accountability within Zimbabwe’s security services.
ZICC chairperson, Retired Justice Webster Nicholas Chinamora, toured the stand this Tueaday afternoon, engaging staff and interacting with visitors as the Commission stepped up its public awareness and outreach programme.

Established under the Zimbabwe Independent Complaints Commission Act of 2022, ZICC gives effect to Section 210 of Zimbabwe’s 2013 Constitution, which provides for an independent mechanism to receive and investigate complaints of misconduct by members of the security services.
The Commission’s mandate covers complaints involving members of the country’s security services, with the broader objective of strengthening accountability and improving public confidence in institutions responsible for protecting citizens.
Although ZICC is a relatively new institution, its role is significant: providing members of the public with an independent avenue through which complaints concerning security-service conduct can be raised and investigated.

The Agricultural Show provides an important opportunity for that message to reach a diverse audience in an informal public setting.
For ZICC, public confidence is built not only through investigations, but also through visibility, accessibility and engagement — ensuring that citizens understand the institution, its mandate and how they can interact with it.
The Commission’s guiding message, “Powering Public Confidence Through Accountability, Integrity and Service Excellence,” captures that mission.
At the Show, ZICC is therefore doing more than exhibiting. It is bringing its accountability mandate closer to the public.
