FORUS President: A Multiparty System is Zimbabwe’s Only Hope

By Chido Mapuranga

FORUS President Manyara Muyenziwa asserts that a multiparty system is the key solution to the challenges facing Zimbabwe, emphasizing the need to move away from the winner-takes-all politics that have long proven ineffective.

Speaking recently in Davos, Switzerland, Muyenziwa highlighted that her party’s constitution explicitly advocates for collaboration among political stakeholders to collectively build the nation.

“The challenges facing Zimbabwe are immense, and the path to progress lies in embracing inclusivity and dialogue among all political stakeholders,” she stated.

Muyenziwa, who met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at Davos, further indicated her intention to engage with more African leaders in dialogues aimed at exchanging ideas and best practices that can be adapted to the Zimbabwean context.

Zimbabwe has faced contested elections that have arguably hampered its development. Notably, last year’s elections in South Africa resulted in a government of national unity, as the ruling African National Congress (ANC) failed to secure a majority vote.
