Harare, Zimbabwe – Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Tamer Almassri, has strongly condemned the intensifying Israeli military operations in the West Bank, where relentless attacks on refugee camps and towns have left over 25 Palestinians dead, with dozens injured and detained. The offensive, now in its 14th consecutive day, has caused widespread devastation in Jenin camp, Al-Far’a camp, Tulkarm camp, and the town of Tamoun, south of Tubas.
The scale of destruction is alarming, with fighter jets demolishing homes and displacing over 15,000 Palestinians, particularly in Jenin camp. Israeli forces have reportedly blocked these families from returning to their homes, a move that Ambassador Almassri describes as part of a deliberate policy of ethnic cleansing and systematic genocide, akin to the ongoing devastation in Gaza.
Adding to the humanitarian crisis, Israeli troops have besieged the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital and the Israa Specialized Hospital, severely obstructing medical operations. Ambulances and medical personnel have been subjected to searches and field interrogations, while nearby buildings are being repurposed as military outposts and sniper positions, further endangering civilian lives.
The State of Palestine has called for an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, urging swift international intervention to halt Israel’s military campaign. Ambassador Almassri has stressed the urgent need for global action, warning that continued inaction will only embolden further violations of international humanitarian law.
“The international community must not stand idly by while Israel escalates its systematic campaign of violence and displacement against the Palestinian people. The time for decisive action is now,” said Ambassador Almassri.
The crisis in the West Bank continues to worsen as Israeli aggression intensifies, raising fears of further bloodshed and mass displacement. Global leaders face mounting pressure to intervene and hold Israel accountable for its actions against Palestinian civilians.
