Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has arrived in Rusape, Manicaland Province, to attend the centenary celebrations of St Kilian’s Mission, marking 100 years of the Roman Catholic institution’s service to the community.
The Vice President was received by Deputy President of the Senate Lieutenant General (Retired) Mike Nyambuya, ZANU PF Politburo member Cde Patrick Chinamasa, Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Manicaland Mr Abiot Maronge, alongside senior Government officials, ZANU PF leaders and Roman Catholic Church representatives.
The celebrations commemorate a century since the establishment of St Kilian’s Mission, which has played a significant role in education, healthcare, spiritual development and community service in Manicaland Province.
Hundreds of congregants, church leaders, government officials and invited guests are attending the event, which is expected to reflect on the mission’s historical contribution while outlining its future role in serving communities.
Vice President Chiwenga is expected to deliver the keynote address during the commemorations.
The centenary celebrations underscore the longstanding contribution of faith-based institutions to Zimbabwe’s social development through the provision of education, health services and humanitarian support.
